Are you are very worried, nervous, or have uncontrollable anxiety when you even think about going to the dentist?
You may not have any idea how many people feel very similar to you. There are hundreds in every dental practice and Dr. Norton understands this. She has successfully and comfortably treated countless patients with dental anxiety. Whether you understand where the fear came form or not, does not matter to you. You just know that you have fear. Fortunately you can still have your dentistry completed, and feel great while you do! Inhalation of Nitrous Oxide or taking a prescription medication before your appointment are two options you have at our office. These sedatives, in combination with our noise blocking headphones, massage chair, and a blanket will make you a believer.
How are sedatives administered?
- Inhalation — Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is the most frequently used method for easing mild to moderate anxiety. Recovery is quick so you can resume your normal activities immediately.
- Oral — An extremely common technique for dental relaxation is oral sedation. It is easy and does not require the use of needles. You will be given a prescription medication which, taken about an hour before your appointment, will have you relaxed by the time you arrive at our office. This option requires you to have someone drive you to and from your dental appointment and stay with you afterwards.
